The site of the project was in Coney Island, the beach opposite Luna Park. This location adds an interesting dynamic, juxtaposing the lively amusement park atmosphere with the contemplative, introspective nature of the installation. Inspired by Pnehaus’ compound camera, it aims to provoke altered behavior in response to surveillance. The installation comprises a scaffold with cameras and screens displaying different views, alongside an unidentified metallic object reflecting distorted images of viewers. As participants move through the installation, they see distorted views of themselves and lagged footage, prompting reflection on how surveillance may alter behavior. The reflective object challenges perceptions, distorting both self-image and the surrounding environment. Overall, the project invites viewers to contemplate the effects of surveillance on behavior and self- perception in a world of increasing observation.
